Volunteer

Volunteers are crucial to the success of our mission, striving to end substandard housing, A tremendous amount of work takes place behind the scenes before a project is in the construction phase. Habitat depends on the energy and time of volunteers for office support, committee work and home construction. We welcome volunteers of all skill levels and interests into our Habitat family. The best value and the most powerful contribution comes from the volunteer (skilled in construction or not) who wants to make a difference in the community. Habitat for Humanity is an open community, always looking for those interested in joining!

Most of our volunteer positions do not require previous experience and fall under these categories:

Committee Volunteers

Committee Volunteers meet regularly according to the needs of the committee. There are ten committees on which to serve, each chartered with a specific goal designed to reinforce the mission of Habitat for Humanity of San Joaquin County, Inc. Committees are in the formation stages.....please call our office at (209) 465-5054 for a detailed description of each committee.

Office Volunteers

Office Volunteers are scheduled according to the needs of our office at any given time. As the center of communication for Habitat for Humanity of San Joaquin County, Inc., office volunteers are professional, consistent and reliable. The scope of work includes administrative assistance, resource development and family services.

Construction Volunteers

Construction Volunteers will help build new homes as we continue our Dream Creek community of 19 lots in Stockton. There will be a tremendous amount of work starting with site clean up and ending with a move in celebration for the families. Skilled and unskilled volunteers are welcome at our jobsite.

The first step to becoming a construction volunteer is to participate in a Volunteer Orientation. Please call the office at (209) 465-5054 for information of the timing of Orientations. We also conduct Volunteer Orientations on site before the build day begins. Please make sure that you bring a Volunteer Waiver with you to the site and provide this to our Construction Team. Follow the links below for the Volunteer Waiver form and the Minor Volunteer form. Volunteers under the age of 18 are required to bring this form with them.

While children under the age of 16 are not allowed to volunteer, we welcome your calls to our office for ideas on ways youth younger than 16 may get involved.

ReStore Volunteers

Volunteers in our ReStore will also help build new homes in our project of 19 lots in Stockton. The proceeds from the sales at the ReStore will go towards the home building effort, buying materials to complete the electrical, plumbing or roofing. In addition to helping construct homes for families in need within our community, volunteers at the ReStore provide a great community service in keeping a lot of material from going into the landfills. Skilled and unskilled volunteers are welcome at the ReStore. The duties can include organizing materials, helping customers with their purchases, unloading donations that are received

The first step to becoming a volunteer at the ReStore is to participate in a Volunteer Orientation. Please see the next scheduled dates under our events page and sign up to attend. After attending the orientation, volunteers will be scheduled to work based on your availability. .

While children under the age of 16 are generally not allowed to volunteer on our construction sites, we welcome your calls to our office for ideas on ways youth younger than 16 may get involved. The ReStore is a great opportunity for youth to get involved.
